BALTIMORE, MD. November 20, 2008 - A Thanksgiving tradition of giving started at ACCORD Restoration (ACCORDrestoration.com) seven years ago with turkeys and a desire to help others.  

Baskets of food including fresh turkeys are donated by ACCORD and its employees to those who might not have a holiday meal otherwise through St. Ann's Church on East 22nd Street and New Life Fellowship Church on Robert Street in Baltimore. Employees from ACCORD offices in Baltimore, Maryland and Millsboro, Delaware donate food items or money, and the company purchases fresh turkeys for the baskets from Reynolds farm in Reisterstown. This year, ACCORD Restoration will donate 75 Thanksgiving baskets.  

"Every year during the holidays there are families in need, but this year we are particularly aware of how important these baskets will be to families who have been devastated by the current economic times," said Frank Nemshick, CEO and president of ACCORD Restoration. "Every day, ACCORD works with individuals who are trying to recover from disaster. I think this has made all of us particularly aware of how important it is to help our neighbors."

Originally, the ACCORD team would hand-deliver the turkeys and all of the trimmings to families in need, but the task of getting food to the families on time quickly became logistically impossible. That led ACCORD to start working with established programs, such as that of St. Ann's Church and New Life Fellowship Church, three years ago.  

Sister Jeanne Barasha, pastoral administrator at St. Ann's Church, said that through the partnership with ACCORD, the church has been able to double the number of families helped at Thanksgiving. "I think the employees at ACCORD are grateful for the blessings in their own lives and want to share with others," she said.

Deacon Thomas Williams, the food pantry director from New Life Fellowship Church added, "We receive many donations from the Maryland Food Bank, but companies like ACCORD Restoration are just as vital to our cause. The purpose is to help as many people as possible and in that case, every little bit helps."
