Project Spotlights
ACCORD Restoration completes numerous restoration projects in
Maryland and Delaware and we'd like to tell you
about a few of them.
Romeo’s Restaurant - Car Crash
CAUSE
A large truck crashed into the side wall of Romeo's Restaurant in Eldersburg, Maryland.
DAMAGE DESCRIPTION
ACCORD Restoration responded as soon as the call came in to assess
the damage. Upon arrival, ACCORD Restoration observed a large section of the exterior wall pushed into the dining area about two feet.
ACTION
Because the exterior wall was pushed into the dining area, ACCORD's first area of concern was to restore the interior as quickly as possible to prevent loss of income to the restaurant. ACCORD restored the side wall and interior first and worked in off-peak hours to minimize the disruption of business. Finally
they focused on matching the three-color brick exterior and finish.
ACCORD’S IMPACT ON CLAIM
ACCORD Restoration repaired all damages and restored the restaurant to its pre-loss condition.
Having responded within 24-hours, ACCORD significantly reduced
the loss of business income and extra expenses for the
restaurant.
Piv's Restaurant - Car Crash
CAUSE
A car crashed through the front of Piv's Restaurant in
Cockeysville, MD.
DAMAGE DESCRIPTION
ACCORD Restoration responded as soon as the call came in to assess the
damage. The front wall of Piv's Restaurant in
Cockeysville, MD was
damaged and had to be replaced along with a major steel support
beam.
ACTION
The car crash at the restaurant happened during football season,
which is a prime revenue time for Piv's Restaurant. Keeping this
in mind, ACCORD Restoration decided to close up the wall which
allowed Piv's Restaurant to stay in business throughout
the entire restoration project with minimal loss of income.
ACCORD Restoration also had to temporarily secure the entire
roof. In addition, the damaged structural steel "I" beam
that ran the entire length of the restaurant was removed and
replaced.
Throughout the entire restoration process, ACCORD Restoration
coordinated all aspects of the job, including laborers,
sub-contractors and insurance adjusters.
ACCORD'S IMPACT ON CLAIM
ACCORD Restoration repaired all damages and restored the
restaurant back to its pre-loss condition. The restoration
process took thee months to complete.
Medved House - Fallen Tree
CAUSE
A large tree uprooted and fell onto a home in Baltimore County,
MD.
DAMAGE DESCRIPTION
ACCORD Restoration responded to the call at night. Upon arrival
around 8PM, ACCORD found a very large oak tree about 120' tall
and 48" in diameter uprooted which crushed about 30% of the
structure and moderately damaged about another 20%.
ACTION
Due to the size of the tree ACCORD Restoration had to place a
tarp over the tree and house. Next, ACCORD mitigated the
resulting water damage to the interior and moved undamaged
contents out of harms way. The next day ACCORD began removing
the tree. Since the tree was so large a plan was devised to cut
up the tree and remove it small pieces at a time. This saved the
cost of a huge crane and collateral damage to the asphalt
driveway and landscaping. After the tree was removed ACCORD
devised a temporary roof system, then proceeded with interfacing
with the structural engineer, estimated damages and proceeded
with repairs.
ACCORD’S IMPACT ON CLAIM
ACCORD Restoration repaired all damages and restored the house
back to its pre-loss condition. The entire repair process was
completed in four months.
St. Timothy's School - Water
Damage
CAUSE
A blown pressure valve in the utility room caused water to leak
onto the gym floor at St. Timothy's School in Stevenson,
Maryland. The water sat for a few weeks before the insurance
company called upon ACCORD Restoration.
DAMAGE DESCRIPTION
ACCORD Restoration responded to the claim as soon as the call
came in to assess the damage.
From the time the water leak occurred to when ACCORD Restoration
was called in to restore the damage, two serious problems
had occurred, the
gym floor had become warped and cracked and mold had built up around a
quarter of
the floor area.
ACTION
The first thing on the agenda was to contain
the mold. For this, a containment area had to be built and an
industrial hygienist was brought in to evaluate the mold
build-up. The hygienist gave ACCORD Restoration the protocol
needed to properly remove the mold and get the entire area
cleaned, sterilized and ready for use.
Once the contaminated floor area was properly cleaned, ACCORD
Restoration was able to verify that the mold was completely
gone and moved on to the next step of drying the floor with professional
dry-out systems. ACCORD Restoration completely removed and replaced
the
gym floor that was in the mold containment area and as a
finishing touch, the entire gym floor was sanded, re-finished
and re-lined. Throughout the entire restoration process, ACCORD
Restoration had coordinated all aspects of the job, including
laborers, sub-contractors, hygienists and insurance adjusters.
ACCORD'S IMPACT ON CLAIM
With this project, ACCORD Restoration mitigated significant additional
"loss of use" time and
additional cost of repairs. The isolation and
containment of the mold allowed for continued occupancy and
safety and a
significant portion of the basketball court was saved from replacement due
to the speed of mitigation and strategic drying of the floating floor
system.
